Hunger
HUNGER:
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Matt 5:6
The intense feeling of hunger creates a dire search for substance to satisfy that feeling, which is normally food. In the same regard our soul hungers for our Creator’s acceptance of us in the beloved. This simply means our souls long to be accepted by Jesus. Although we were born in sin and shaped in iniquity, and even though we were born with a sinful nature, and we love darkness rather than light; there’s still this absence that we experience if we haven’t received Jesus into our hearts.
“Having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.” Ephesians 1:5-7
Every human being wants to be accepted, especially by God. Yet the issue of belief resonates with us all. Not just any belief but believing biblically. Biblical belief says yes Jesus died for the sins of the world, yet the world must believe that He died for their sins, they must believe that God has raised Him from the dead and must believe on Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.
Seems quite simple yet it has been the most complex truth that has existed amongst humanity. The mystery is this, when it comes to salvation God draws people to Himself through the preaching of His word, the witnessing of Believers (spreading the gospel).
“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:44 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” Romans 1:16 The HUNGER that makes us crave the righteousness of God is perpetrated by Holy Spirit.
Pray this prayer with me:
Father God in the name of Jesus, please open my heart to receive You as Lord and Savior. Show me who You are to me Jesus so that I may fully believe on You, in Jesus Name amen.
